Robertina Šebjanič is a Slovenian artist, whose works explore biopolitical and philosophical issues in our society through the research of living systems, AV installations and sound/noise performances.
She is the co-founder and active member of Theremidi Orchestra and participates in the platform of open source biological art projects, Hackteria Network. One of her latest works, a collaborative effort with Slavko Glamočanin, Aurelia 1+Hz, got the Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2016. This interactive AV performance investigates the possibility of interspecies communication, cohabitation and the human impact on other species.
Most of Robertina’s work is done in a collaborative manner. Her collaboration with Aleš Hieng – Zergon and Ida Hiršenfelder, Time Displacement / Chemobrionic Garden, which reflects on the relationship between hydrothermal chemistry, the passage of time, and sensory systems, was nominated for the Arts Electronica STARTS 2016 award.
Robertina Šebjanič, one of MoTA’s 2017 SHAPE Artists, will present her compositions of the subaquatic soundscape Aquatocene at the Sonica festival exhibition.
